Do You Want To Hear One of William Parker’s Original Poems in Song Format?

Hello all and welcome to my new subscribers! Hope you enjoy journeying with me as I follow my writer’s dream.

As most of my followers already know the novel “A Ring of Promises” was inspired by the true life story of my paternal grandparents. The story follows their overall paths but the individual scenes in the novel are works of fiction. There simply was not sufficient information to write a memoir.

Some of my prized possessions are copies of songs my grandfather wrote that he self-published back in the late 1910s and 1920. The words from these songs were poems he wrote to the woman he loved back in Scotland while he attempted to get settled in Canada. I took the words out of the songs and used them as the poems in the novel. In case you have not read the novel yet I will not go into more detail.

I am not a musician and thus have read the words but not heard the music. At least not until I commissioned a talented Canadian singer songwriter, David Matheson, to record the music and sing the song. I thought you might enjoy hearing it as well.

I loved the music along with the story and gazing at the front page almost took me back to being there. The book is so well done and the story would hit home for many people whose ancestories came to Canada in those days. A lovely romance, adventure and sad story finding the new life here. Everyone should take some time and read this lovely story so well put together.

    Thanks for sharing, Marie.
