#World Bee Day

Today, May 20th is #World Bee Day. Do something to protect the bees! The addendum of this book has a list of possible actions written in a way your child can understand.

Bees are very important to our food supply. They do not just make honey, they pollinate most of our fruits and vegetables. The decrease in number of bees in the past few years has impacted the ability of our farmers to grow the crops we depend upon for food. What will you do today to help our bee friends?

  1. Our grandson and I read “Oliver and the Bee” at the cottage a few weeks ago. Before we took him home, he asked if he could take the Beekeeper Sock Monkey with him “for a little visit.” Last night, he proudly showed us Beekeeper tucked into bed and his beekeeper hat on the shelf ready for him to keep bees. “They’re important, Grandma.” I, of course, heartily agreed.

That’s such a great story. Thanks so much for sharing it! Maybe he’ll be a beekeeper when he is old enough!
